The Sisters Are Tweeting, and Using Social Media for Social Good

In New York or London, I find, there’s a healthy mix of job titles that attend social media functions: communications and marketing professionals, random journos, maybe lawyers, and possibly public sector employees, are usually in the audience. In Rome, you get nuns.

OK, it’s not just nuns here. But in a city where religious organizations and charities are such a dominant part of the local workforce you are bound to get men and women of the cloth who happen to code and tweet and do quite a bit of outreach through social networks peppering you with tough questions about proper social media editorial strategy. READ MORE

I had the good fortune of finding Catie MacKrell just as my first book was (self) published and I was oblivious as to how to promote it. All of the talk about web marketing, social media and blogging caused me tremendous confusion, and I was too intimidated to take the first step. At about that time, I encountered Catie on a project on which she was the marketing consultant, and was instantly impressed with her knowledge of branding and marketing, and specifically Internet marketing. I knew she could help me promote my book and I made the right decision.

In our initial conversation about my book promotion, Catie listened closely to my needs and concerns. She truly ‘got’ what I needed, and developed a marketing plan to help me accomplish my goals, including implementing many of the Internet things that mystified me so. Once I gave Catie the green-light, she set into motion, created and delivered a dazzling, professional, highly functional website, social networking sites, and a plan of action to immediately broadened my exposure. Before I new it, I was an author with a strong web presence and growing customer base.

Catie’s technical skills put me on the map, but it is her thorough understanding of branding, promotion, public relations and networking that brought my book to the attention of hundreds, if not thousands, of people. Her positive encouragement to blog, post announcements and email newsletters not only brought credibility to my book (and brand), but empowered me to take charge of my own success. Her creativity greatly inspires me, and her out-of-the-box thinking generates magnificent ideas to take me and my book to the next level of exposure. And beyond that, her loving, upbeat demeanor is a pleasure to work with. She cares about me and my success, and is a true friend as I launch into the world.

Engaging Catie as my marketing person was the best decision I’ve made, and I highly recommend her to anyone who is in need of marketing and Internet savvy for great success.
